Decom North Sea Sheds Light on Supply Chain Capability

Decom North Sea has published aDecom Directory in conjunction with Scottish Enterprise and the Oil & Gas Authority, which provides details of companies which have the capability to service the UK/UKCS decommissioning sector. On the eve of the Offshore Decommissioning Conference 2016, Decom North Sea, the offshore oil and gas decommissioning forum held its seventh Annual General Meeting in St Andrews. Last night (14th November), the AGM saw eight new board directors elected and one director re-elected from across a range of sectors within the oil and gas industry. New directors have been named as: Simon Gibb; Kevin Illingworth; Dick Lagerweij; Donald Martin; Mike Pettigrew; Will Rowley; Ron van der Laan and Tiana Walker; and Andrew Sneddon has been re-elected as director to the board.

DNS Appoints Esson, Chief Executive

Decom North Sea (DNS), the representative body for the offshore decommissioning industry, which promotes and facilitates collaboration and cost reduction, today appointed a new chief executive. Roger Esson brings over 20 years’ highly relevant experience as DNS continues to play a critical part in the development of the UK decommissioning sector. Having held a variety of leadership positions within companies ranging from SMEs to tier 1 contactors, his previous roles have included time with Stork Technical Services and Amec Foster Wheeler’s decommissioning division.

Decom Offshore Conference Set for May

Decom North Sea (DNS), the representative body for the offshore decommissioning industry, has announced plans for its annual flagship conference, Decom Offshore. Set against a $30 per barrel backdrop, “Decommissioning – Reality, Preparation and Action in a low price oil environment” takes place on May 25, at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Center, and will address the reality of decommissioning activity in a mature basin context, where investment has yet to be confirmed. A full program will be issued in April and bookings are now open and sponsorship/exhibition opportunities available.

On the eve of the Offshore Decommissioning Conference 2015, Decom North Sea (DNS), the offshore oil and gas decommissioning forum held its Annual General Meeting in St Andrews. Last night, the AGM saw five new board directors elected and five directors reelected from across a range of sectors within the oil and gas industry. New directors have been named as Alistair Hope, Alan Edwards, Sebastiaan Pauwels, Robert McCaig and Gerard Lubbinge, while those who have been reelected as directors to the board are Pamela Ogilvie, Tom Leeson, Murdo MacIver, Roy Aspden and David Dent.

Optimus Seventh Generation, an Aberdeen headquartered behavioural change consultancy, has strengthened its safety portfolio by securing its first decommissioning contract in a six figure agreement with a major North Sea operator. The four month contract, which began in May this year, will see Optimus Seventh Generation supply induction training and back to back health and safety advisors to support the safe decommissioning of a floating production, storage and offloading vessel in the North Sea. Intertek Launches Decommissioning Services

Intertek said it is launching a new set of oil and gas decommissioning services to help manage costs and asset inventory. The company showcased the new services, which focus on the circular economy approach, at Decom North Sea’s lunch and learn yesterday. Pirie continued, “Circular economy provides great opportunities for decommissioning, when planned correctly it can create greater cost control as well as ensuring that redundant materials are removed and used in the most effective way possible. Asset inventory is a key component of this, knowing what is on the asset will determine what can be done with each piece.

Decom North Sea (DNS), the representative body for the offshore decommissioning industry, will continue its work to drive and facilitate a sustainable and efficient decommissioning industry by hosting Decom Offshore 2015. Entitled Decommissioning – The Economic and Operational Challenges, this one-day conference is sponsored by DNV GL and will take place in Aberdeen, on May 27. It aims to place the decommissioning sector in context at a time when industry is faced with enormous economic and operational pressures. Decom Offshore 2015 will reflect the key purpose of DNS, which acts as the driving force behind sector knowledge sharing, collaboration and innovation.

New Skills Resource for the O&G Industry

A new resource developed to help people source accurate information about the UK oil and gas sector has been unveiled in Aberdeen. HM Government’s Industrial Strategy, launched in 2013 to deliver long-term plans to secure jobs and growth in the UK’s key economic sectors, highlighted the need for one centralized online portal to provide a more proactive and co-ordinated approach to providing relevant information on oil and gas skills. Following 12 months of research and development, the Oil & Gas Skills Navigator was unveiled for the first time Tuesday, November 11 at a business breakfast in Aberdeen attended by around 150 senior industry leaders.

Decom North Sea (DNS) announced that Karen Seath will join the organization in September, in the role of General Manager. With the total cost of UKCS decommissioning expected to reach approximately £4.5billion in the next five years, these are strategically critical times for the North Sea decommissioning industry. This has been amply demonstrated by the publication of the Wood Review and the more recent “Scotland’s Independent Expert Commission on Oil and Gas: Maximizing the Total Value Added”. Both reports urge the industry to find “game changing” solutions to the challenges of decommissioning. Seath therefore joins DNS at an exciting time for the industry.

Decom North Sea Hosts Lunch and Learn

Decom North Sea (DNS) is unique – it is the only organization dedicated to bringing operators, the supply chain and other stakeholders together to collaborate, innovate and uncover efficient solutions for offshore asset decommissioning. Hundreds of industry professionals have benefited from this ethos by attending DNS’ program of regular Lunch and Learn sessions.
