From November 19-20, Decom North Sea’s two-day training course, Decommissioning - From Planning through Execution, returns to Aberdeen for a fourth session with the objective to inform participants of the background, scope and key issues associated with the decommissioning sector. Topics covered will include decommissioning legislation, safety and environmental issues, identifying best practice and improvement opportunities across the field.

The course is delivered in partnership with Strategic Decom and is geared toward those who are new to decommissioning, including managers across all operational and professional services who wish to gain a better understanding of decommissioning and a typical project. Participants will be able to learn about, discuss and debate efficient decommissioning practice during this course, which has been described by previous attendees as an “excellent event that really helped me understand… the complexities and factors involved throughout the whole process.”

Decom North Sea nurtures the skills that are the lifeblood of innovation and decommissioning. At our core is a drive to safely reduce decommissioning costs and reduce the liability for tax payers and future generations,” said Nigel Jenkins, chief executive of Decom North Sea. “We have a very clear strategy that is built upon fundamental elements: informing all our stakeholders, learning, collaborating and improving. This training course illustrates our commitment to ensuring we have a number of well-resourced activities focusing on subjects such as early contractor involvement, improving market information/knowledge, reducing the cost of P&A and lessons learned from past projects.”
