On the eve of the Offshore Decommissioning Conference 2016, Decom North Sea, the offshore oil and gas decommissioning forum held its seventh Annual General Meeting in St Andrews. Last night (14th November), the AGM saw eight new board directors elected and one director re-elected from across a range of sectors within the oil and gas industry.
New directors have been named as: Simon Gibb; Kevin Illingworth; Dick Lagerweij; Donald Martin; Mike Pettigrew; Will Rowley; Ron van der Laan and Tiana Walker; and Andrew Sneddon has been re-elected as director to the board.
Commenting on the newly-elected board, Decom North Sea’s chief executive, Roger Esson said: “I am delighted to be welcoming our directors - both new and re-elected - to the Decom North Sea board. We will be working closely together over the coming year, driving forward our key objective of an efficient and cost-effective North Sea decommissioning industry.”
In addition to board election, attendees of the AGM were appraised of key Decom North Sea activity over the past year (including the launch of the Late Life Planning Portal and May 2016’s Decom Offshore conference, which saw record attendance) plus an update on progress and plans for their ongoing strategic objectives.
In the wake of its AGM, Decom North Sea, together with Oil & Gas UK, hosts the annual Offshore Decommissioning Conference November 15th and 16th. Entitled The Way Forward – Delivering Decommissioning, the event will draw upon lessons learned, with case studies shared from late life operations and decommissioning activities, as well as relevant examples drawn from other sectors.
The flagship conference is being chaired jointly by Roger Esson and Mike Tholen, Oil & Gas UK’s Head of Upstream Policy. Industry experts will also be sharing their knowledge of decommissioning, whilst delegates will have the opportunity to engage in a range of interactive discussions between operators and contractors.
The annual event follows on from six previous sell out conferences, with over 420 delegates from the across the globe attending this year’s conference.
