US Could Get First LNG Import from Russia despite Sanctions
A vessel that may be carrying liquefied natural gas from Russia's new Yamal LNG export terminal could be heading to the United States despite sanctions against the company that operates the Russian facility, according to a report by S&P Global Platts and Thomson Reuters shipping data. The tanker Chris. De Margerie picked up a cargo from Novatek PAO's Yamal facility, Russia's second LNG export terminal, on Dec. 9 and dropped it off at National Grid Plc's Isle of Grain LNG facility near London on Dec. 28, according to Thomson Reuters data. Since then, Engie SA's Gaselys LNG tanker picked up LNG from the UK facility on Dec. 30 and is expected to arrive in Boston on Jan. 22.
Fugro Acquires 'Fit for Nuclear' Status
A Fugro manufacturing centre that specialises in marine geotechnics has met Nuclear AMRC’s (Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre) exacting marque of supplier competence for nuclear contracts. The UK facility for over-water drilling and marine construction equipment gained Fit For Nuclear (F4N) status following rigorous assessment under the coveted supplier excellence scheme. Recognising ‘nuclear excellence engagement and success’, the award assesses and scores suppliers in six key areas: Strategy and Leadership, Design and Project Management, People Excellence, Process Excellence, Health and Safety, and Quality Management.
Seanamic Expands Global Umbilical Business
Seanamic Group, is expanding its global umbilicals business with a new Umbilical International facility in Glasgow. Initially it will offer umbilical repair and refurbishment for operators and contractors, in the lead up to full umbilical and cable manufacture. Comprising Houston-based, Umbilicals International (UI) and Glasgow-based Caley Ocean Systems, Seanamic supplies fully integrated umbilical and handling systems for well intervention, workover and BOP (MUX and direct Hydraulic), saturation diving and subsea habitats, ROVs and submersibles.
Workstrings Announces Global Expansion
Workstrings International (Workstrings), a provider of drilling and tubular handling equipment and a Superior Energy Services company, announced the completion of global expansion projects in Africa, the U.S. and the U.K. These expansion projects include relocation and expansion of its Takoradi, Ghana, facility; expansion of inspection amenities at its global headquarters in Broussard, Louisiana; and opening of a purpose-built inspection facility within its Aberdeen, U.K., campus. STATS Group Announces New UK Facility
STATS Group has opened a new Intervention Engineering and Technical Support hub and recruited two of the energy industry’s leading experts in pipeline intervention services. The Aberdeenshire-headquartered pipeline engineering specialist has invested in a new facility in Kendal, Cumbria,(U.K.), which will be the focus of its technical and operational support, coupled with research and development work for its hot tap and BISEP* product lines. The 2,500-square-foot office and research base is headed up by Martin Wilson in the newly created post of Director of Intervention Services, and he is supported by Dr. Mark Burton, Technical Director of Intervention Services.
Heriot-Watt University Orders ASV C-Enduro
Heriot-Watt University’s Edinburgh Campus, has confirmed the order of an ASV C-Enduro. The C-Enduro Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) will be used for research in persistent and long term autonomy with multiple remote and autonomous marine platforms. The vehicle’s primary application will be as a moving navigation and communication platform for AUV’s.
