Wärtsilä LNGPac Passes Milestone

Wärtsilä’s Fuel Gas Supply Systems passed a significant milestone with the 100th order being booked. Two new shuttle tankers being built for Singapore based AET Tankers will feature Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel auxiliary engines running primarily on LNG fuel, and fitted with LNGPac units. This contract brought the total number of orders received for this innovative system to 100.

Senior Appointments at First Marine Solutions

First MarineSolutions (FMS) said it has made two senior appointments to bolster its global growth plans. Dave McGinlay and Paul Crichton join the Aberdeen based mooring services provider as Business Development Director and Sales and Marketing Manager, respectively. McGinlay joins FMS having held key roles within the oil and gas sector for over ten years.

GE Ships LM2500 Marine Gas Turbine for US Navy

GE's Marine Solutions division said it has shipped a LM2500 marine gas turbine propulsion module that will help power the U.S. Navy's 75th DDG Arleigh Burke-class destroyer Jack H. Lucas (DDG 125). Shipbuilder Huntington Ingalls Industries' Ingalls Shipbuilding division will construct this new destroyer with U.S. Navy Flight III upgrades incorporated.

Wärtsilä to Acquire Puregas Solutions

Wärtsilä said it has reached a deal to acquire a Sweden based provider of turnkey biogas upgrading solutions, Puregas Solutions. The transaction is valued (enterprise value) at SEK 280m ($34.5 million) with an additional maximum sum of SEK 70m ($8.6 million) to be paid based on the performance of the business in the coming year.

Wärtsilä Biohybrid plant for Germany

Wärtsilä has been awarded the contract to supply a biohybrid production plant to the German energy company, Erdgas Südwest GmbH. The new plant will produce both bioLNG (liquefied biogas) and LNG. The contract with Wärtsilä was signed in December, and delivery will be made on a fast-track basis. The Wärtsilä delivery will include the company's unique liquefaction system.

Wärtsilä Re-gasification system for Norwegian Ship Conversion

Wärtsilä has been contracted to supply the re-gasification system for an FSRU (Floating, Storage, Re-gasification Unit) conversion project that Höegh LNG plans to carry out on a modern LNG vessel. The contract was signed in August. The Wärtsilä re-gasification system to be supplied will feature regas technology using water glycol as the intermediate medium instead of propane.
