Andreae Appointed MD of DEA Norge

May 19, 2016

After a five-month integration process, DEA has set up a new organisation, DEA Norge in Norway and has appointed Hans-Hermann Andreae as its Managing Director. He heads the business in Norway from the new headquarters in Stavanger. The company will continue to pursue its long-term growth strategy on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

The changes to DEA in Norway follow the acquisition of E.ON E&P Norge in December 2015. In line with the requirements of Norwegian authorities, the two companies are now legally merged. The name of the new company is DEA Norge AS.

Hans-Hermann Andreae's predecessor Hugo Sandal will retire at the end of May, while Haakon Haaland, previous Managing Director of E.ON E&P Norge will continue in another leading managerial position in the DEA Group.

“It’s an exciting time to take over the responsibility as Managing Director in Norway, one of the most important countries in DEA’s portfolio”, Hans-Hermann Andreae says. “Our activities and scope are set up for sustainable growth in a low oil price environment”, underlines Andreae. The new organisation has been set up and equipped to handle the portfolio and responsibilities of DEA in Norway in an efficient and responsible manner and in line with regulatory requirements and expectations.

“With the acquisition last year and the completed legal merger of the two organisations, we have taken important steps towards further developing DEA on the Norwegian Continental Shelf”, says Thomas Rappuhn, CEO of DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG. On the upcoming retirement of Hugo Sandal he comments: “We thank Hugo Sandal for his long service to the company. He has shaped DEA Norge in the last 20 years with foresight and dedication. He is also well respected in Norway’s oil industry”.

In Norway, DEA currently has interests in 69 licences and a daily production of more than 70,000 barrels of oil equivalent (2015). Furthermore, DEA operates the Zidane discovery, where a PDO is planned to be submitted this year. The company also participates in other promising discoveries and developments. DEA has been present on the NCS for over 40 years.

Hans-Hermann Andreae joined DEA as far back as 1982, directly after graduating with a masters’ degree in petroleum engineering from the Clausthal University of Technology in Germany. During his international E&P career, Andreae spent several years in Germany, Norway and Venezuela, working as Reservoir Engineer, Project Manager and Area Manager among others, for the companies Deutsche Texaco and Preussag. Afterwards, Andreae moved to Egypt, where he was the General Manager of the Suez Oil Company (Joint Venture of DEA and state-owned EGPC, 2003 to 2005) and General Manager of DEA in Egypt (2006 to 2009). Back in Germany, he was responsible for DEA’s Geo Support Center as Senior Vice President at the company’s head office in Hamburg. After DEA’s acquisition in Norway last December, Hans-Hermann Andreae took over the lead of the integration process for both companies.
