Wintershall Dea Norge Wins Norway Permit

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted Wintershall Dea Norge, a Norwegian unit of the German oil company Wintershall Dea, a drilling permit for well 66046604/5-2 S, which is located in the Norwegian Sea.According to NPD, the well will be drilled from the Scarabeo 8 drilling facility in after concluding the drilling of wildcat well 6604/6-1 for Wintershall Dea Norge AS in production license 894.The drilling program for well 6604/5-2 S relates to the drilling of an appraisal well in production license 894.Wintershall Dea Norge AS is the operator with an ownership interest of 40 percent.

PGNIG to Drill Well in Norway

Polish Oil and Gas Company (PGNiG) said that PGNiG Upstream Norway AS has acquired a detailed 2D seismic image, which will facilitate the selection of a drilling location in the Shrek prospect within the PL838 licence area.The Polish natural gas market company said that it will be the first well drilled by the PGNiG Group as a licence operator on the Norwegian Continental Shelf."On the Shrek prospect, PGNiG will exploit its E&P know-how and experience in the new role as the operator of a licence in the Norwegian Sea.

Well Drilling at Fogelberg Gas Discovery to Start in Feb/March

Centrica said drilling will start on an appraisal well at its Fogelberg natural gas discovery in the Norwegian sea in February/March to gain a better understanding of volumes and reservoir quality. Norwegian company Island Drilling has won the drilling contract, Centrica said in a statement on Friday. The agreement also includes an option for two additional wells. The Fogelberg discovery was made in 2010 and is estimated to hold around 60 million barrels of oil equivalent. Production is scheduled to start in 2021.

Skarfjell becomes tie-back to Gjøa

DEA and its partners in PL418 have selected a subsea tie-back to the Gjøa platform as the concept for development of the Skarfjell discovery in the Norwegian North Sea. This alternative is an enabler for developing the Gjøa platform as a stronger hub in the area and maximising recovery for Gjøa, Skarfjell and the area in general. Skarfjell is situated in the northeastern North Sea, approximately 20 kilometers southwest of the Gjøa platform. DEA is partner in Gjoa, with a share of 8%.

Technip Wins Dvalin Subsea Development Contract

Technip said it has been awarded an EPCI contract for the subsea development of the Dvalin field by DEA Norge AS. The Dvalin field (previously named Zidane) development is a tie-back from a new four-slot template to the Heidrun platform through a 15km long Pipe-in-Pipe production line. The development also connects the Heidrun gas export from Heidrun to the Polarled Gas Transport Pipeline through a new 7.5km pipeline. Aker Solutions, Aibel Awarded Dvalin contracts

Aker Solutions is awarded the contract for the subsea production system for Dvalin and Aibel is awarded the contract for modules and offshore integration at the Heidrun platform. In total the Dvalin licence will award contracts worth 530 million Euros. Dvalin is DEA’s first operated field development project in Norway. “These contracts are a major step in our effort on getting the Dvalin field developed, and we are very satisfied with having Aker Solutions and Aibel on board”, says Hans-Hermann Andreae, Managing Director of DEA Norge.

Statoil to Drill New Arctic Gas Wells

Drilling for replenishment of its Arctic Snoehvit gas. Songa Enabler drilling rig has started drilling a new injection well for CO2 gas on Snoehvit field off coast of Hammerfest. After new CO2 injector is installed, rig will move on to drill first new production well at Snoehvit since field came on stream in 2007. The next big development step for Hammerfest LNG is the development of the Askeladd field, which is part of the plan for development and operation of the Snoehvit licence. It is expected to come on stream in 2020/2021. Snoehvit is expected to produce until 2055.

Andreae Appointed MD of DEA Norge

After a five-month integration process, DEA has set up a new organisation, DEA Norge in Norway and has appointed Hans-Hermann Andreae as its Managing Director. He heads the business in Norway from the new headquarters in Stavanger. The company will continue to pursue its long-term growth strategy on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). The changes to DEA in Norway follow the acquisition of E.ON E&P Norge in December 2015. In line with the requirements of Norwegian authorities, the two companies are now legally merged. The name of the new company is DEA Norge AS.

Norway: Statoil Must Proceed with Snorre Expansion

Norway's Statoil must move ahead with the delayed upgrade of the Snorre oil and gas field in the North Sea because it is a time-critical investment, energy minister Tord Lien said on Monday. Statoil last month delayed a decision on the $4 billion upgrade of the Snorre field, which could yield an additional 300 million barrels of oil, as margins on the project were too low, particularly after the recent crude price drop. "We have sent a clear message to companies involved that they must move ahead and produce the resources in the licence," Lien told Reuters on the sidelines of a conference.

BG Group Produces First Oil from Knarr Field

BG Group announced the Petrojarl Knarr floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel had started production from the Knarr oil field in the North Sea, offshore Norway. The FPSO has been leased from Teekay Corporation and is moored approximately 120 kilometers off the Norwegian coast. It has a production capacity of 63,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and a storage capacity of 800,000 barrels. The Knarr field, discovered in 2008, has estimated gross recoverable reserves of around 80 million barrels of oil equivalent with a production life of at least ten years.

RWE Dea Norge completes Titan Appraisal Well

RWE Dea Norge AS, operator of production licence (PL)420, is completing drilling operations on appraisal well 35/9-11-S and sidetrack 35/9-11-A on the Titan discovery, 16 kilometres west of the Gjøa Field in the North Sea. The purpose of the well was to delineate the Titan discovery towards the south and to reduce the uncertainties in reservoir thicknesses and reservoir properties. With the appraisal well, oil was proven in the Heather Formation, the Brent Group, the Drake Formation, the Cook Formation and the Statfjord Formation.

AGR to Drill Exploration Wells for RWE Dea in Titan Area

Global oil and gas service provider AGR has been contracted to drill exploration wells in the North Sea’s Titan area. Under the agreement with operator RWE Dea Norge, AGR will deliver Well Delivery Services comprising planning, execution and reporting for the project. Two wells contracted will be delivered in 2014 using the Leiv Eiriksson semisubmersible rig. The Titan field is located in Block 36/9 in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea with a water depth of 360 - 370 meters. RWE Dea Norge drilled the first promising oil and gas discovery in the production license 420 in 2010.
