Zelenskiy: Ukraine's 'victory plans' depend on swift decisions from allies
The "victory plan" of Ukraine in its war against Russia is dependent on the quickness with which allies take decisions this year, said President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Friday when Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission visited Ukraine.
Zelenskiy said at a press conference held jointly with von der Leyen, that Ukraine intended to use the proposed multi-billion euro loan from the European Union for air defence and energy purchases as well as domestic weapons.
Zelenskiy emphasized the importance of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden in the victory plan. He said that the two leaders would discuss this when they meet. The Ukrainian leader will be visiting the United States in the next few days.
Biden is the only person who can make the majority of decisions in the plan. Zelenskiy added that other allies are also involved, but certain aspects depend on the support and goodwill of the United States.
Zelenskiy provided regular updates about the plan's development, but gave few hints as to its contents. He only indicated that the aim was to find terms acceptable to Ukraine following more than two-and-a half years of war after Russia's full scale invasion.
The entire plan depends on quick decisions by our partners. The plan relies on decisions that should be made between October and December.
