Ukraine drones target ethanol plants in Russia, Telegram channels say
Russian channels on Telegram said that Ukrainian drones attacked ethanol plants in Russia’s southern region Voronezh. The regional governor confirmed the report, saying the attack caused two injuries, ignited a fire, and damaged two industries.
Alexander Gusev said that the regional governor Alexander Gusev confirmed on Telegram that firefighters had extinguished the fire which injured two workers in the Anninsky District of the region.
He added that about 10 Ukrainian drones had been destroyed or intercepted late Sunday over the area, and debris damaged several buildings both in the Novokhopersky District as well as the district.
However, the Russian Defence Ministry said that only one Ukrainian drone, out of a total 21 downed overnight, was destroyed in Voronezh.
The Baza news channel, which is closely connected to Russia's security agencies, and several other news channels in the app reported that explosions were heard in the village Krasnoye, in the Novokhopersky District.
The SHOT breaking-news channel reported that the fire started at a distillery located in the village Anna in Anninsky. Social media videos showed a large fire at a burning building.
The location of the images on social media was confirmed as the Anninsky District of Voronezh Region. The date was not verified.
Could not independently verify reports of damage at two distilleries.
Ukraine has not yet commented. Kyiv says its drone strikes inside Russia are aimed at infrastructure that is key to Russia's war efforts, as a response to Moscow's continuing attacks on Ukraine's land. Reporting by Lidia Kelley in Melbourne, Editing by Lisa Shumaker & Clarence Fernandez
