Mermaid Maritime Bags Qatar Subsea Cable Contract
Mermaid Maritime’s Qatari business unit, Mermaid Subsea Services LLC, has clinched an additional subsea cable installation and related diving services contract from an existing customer worth an estimated US$10 million.
The customer is a global cable manufacturing, installation and commissioning firm. The agreement is expected to be completed within three months and will begin in April.
The company said the work will utilise the chartered-in DP2 construction barge the ‘Mubarak Supporter’ along with other specialised vessels.
It comes after Mermaid announced in 2013 it had established a new cable lay division as part of its strategic initiative to expand its service offering to customers in the Middle East.
