German wind energy forecast to increase sharply on Monday
On Friday, European prompt power prices were untraded for Monday on the expectation of an increase in wind power supplies throughout the region. In Germany, levels are expected to be nine times higher.
LSEG data shows that the German and French baseload contracts for Monday were not traded at 1034 GMT.
LSEG data indicated that the German wind power output is expected to increase by 42.2 gigawatts on Monday, to 47.8 GW. The French wind power output should gain 2.7 GW up to 4.1 GW.
Marcus Erikson, LSEG's analyst, said that the wind supply would be at its highest on Monday and then drop through the remainder of the week.
The French nuclear capacity remained unchanged at 85%.
LSEG data shows that power consumption in Germany will fall by 1.9 GW, to 61.8 GW, on Monday. The average temperature in Germany is forecast to rise by 8 degrees Celsius (to 8.5C), LSEG data revealed.
LSEG data revealed that in France, the demand for electricity is expected to grow by 2.5 GW, to 66.9 GW, with temperatures rising 2.4C to 5.5C on average.
The German power contract for the year ahead rose by 0.6%, to 91.40 Euros ($95.85), while in France 2025, there was a range of 70.50-72.90 Euros/MWh.
