German spot prices are affected by higher wind output

The spot electricity prices in Germany fell on Tuesday, as the wind power generation expected to increase.

At 0902 GMT, the German power price for the day ahead was down 1.7% at 142.0 Euros per megawatt-hour.

LSEG data shows that the French baseload rate for the day was 143.5 euros/MWh. This is a 0.4% decrease.

On the supply-side, Germany's wind output was expected to increase by 3.9 gigawatts up to 16.2 GW. French wind power output is expected to drop by 230 megawatts per day to 2.8 GW.

LSEG data revealed that solar power production in Germany was expected to drop by 1.7 GW to 4.0 GW on Tuesday.

The French nuclear capacity has fallen by two percentage points, to 81%.

LSEG data showed that power consumption in Germany was expected to rise by 0.4 gigawatts to 63.1 GW while France's demand is predicted to fall 3.6 GW down to 66.9 GW.

The average temperatures in France will drop by 2.3 degrees Celsius, and Germany's temperature will fall by 1 degree Celsius.

The German baseload contract for the year ahead was down by 0.9% to 96.0 euros/MWh. In France, it fell 2.4% to 68.0 euro/MWh.

The benchmark contract for 2025 on the European carbon market was down 0.6%, at 80.48 Euros per metric ton.

Analysts at Energi Danmark said that the impact of a possible trade war between the U.S. and Europe could put pressure on carbon prices.

The financial daily Tijd quoted Mathieu Bhet as saying that the new Belgian government wants to double nuclear power from 4 GW up to 8 GW through new reactors. Reporting by Alban Kachler Editing by Mark Potter
