Gazprom Gas Deliveries to Romania Down

Posted by October 8, 2014

Gas deliveries from Russia's Gazprom to Romania fell by 18 percent compared with nominated volumes from state-owned gas grid operator Transgaz , the European Union state's energy ministry said on Wednesday.

Gazprom has scaled down its deliveries to several central and eastern European states over the past weeks, but Russian gas volumes to Romania are currently very low, at less than 0.2 million cubic metres per day, the ministry said in a statement.

Romania is the third-most energy-independent state in the EU with a mix including gas, coal, hydro, nuclear and renewable energy, and unlike many of its emerging peers it imports only a fifth of its gas needs from Russia.
