September 2, 2015

Today the vicinities of Sokuluk village (Chuy Region, Kyrgyz Republic) hosted a ceremony of welding the first joint of the final section of Phase II at the Bukhara Gas-Bearing Province – Tashkent – Bishkek – Almaty gas main from the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border to the Sokuluk compressor station.

Taking part in the ceremony were Kubanychbek Turdubayev, Minister of Energy and Industry of Kyrgyzstan, Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Bolot Abildayev, Director General of Gazprom Kyrgyzstan, heads of Kyrgyz local authorities and representatives of the ministries and agencies of the Republic as well as other public officials.

The construction of the section from the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border to the Sokuluk compressor station will become the closing stage of Phase II in Kyrgyzstan. The annual capacity of Phase II will equal 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas. The construction is scheduled for completion in 2016.

“The commissioning of Phase II will almost double the throughput of the Bukhara Gas-Bearing Province – Tashkent – Bishkek – Almaty gas main in Kyrgyzstan. This gas transmission route is of vital importance to meet a growing gas demand in Kyrgyzstan. Particularly, it will secure reliable gas supplies to northern industrialized areas in the Republic.

The construction of Phase II is the first project within the General Scheme of Gas Supply to and Gasification of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2030 generated and implemented by Gazprom,” said Alexey Miller.
