Rosatom: No Start Date for Turkey Nuclear Plant
The head of the Russian Rosatom subsidiary responsible for building Turkey's first nuclear power plant declined on Tuesday to give a start date for the project, saying delays were to be expected in such large-scale ventures. Keen to wean itself off an almost complete dependence on imported energy, Turkey in 2013 commissioned Russia's state-owned Rosatom to build four 1,200-megawatt reactors. Rosatom initially pledged…
Iraq-Turkey Pipeline Attacked; Flow Halted
Oil flow on an Iraqi pipeline carrying Kirkuk and Kurdish oil to Turkey's Mediterranean port of Ceyhan has been halted after saboteours attacked it, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said on Wednesday. "The pipeline has been damaged and the flow is halted due to sabotage by terrorists," Yildiz said in a statement, but added that there was no impact so far on the country's oil supply. Gazprom: No Gas Exports via Ukraine after 2019
Russia's Gazprom has reaffirmed plans to cut off gas transiting Ukraine to western Europe in 2019 and urged the European Union to speed up a decision on Russian gas delivery routes to ensure it receives supplies after that time. Moscow wants to bypass Ukraine in its shipments of gas to Europe due to a succession of pricing rows. Tensions between Moscow and Kiev are also high due to fighting in east Ukraine, where pro-Russian rebels are fighting Kiev forces.
Turkey's First Nuclear Plant Delayed
Turkey's first nuclear power plant is unlikely to be ready before 2022, energy officials said on Monday of the $20-billion project that has been beset by regulatory hurdles and complicated by Russia's financial woes. Dependant on imports for almost all of its energy, Turkey has embarked on an ambitious nuclear programme, commissioning Russia's State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) in 2013 to build four 1,200 megawatt (MW) reactors.
Ankara Stalling Russian Hopes on 'Turkish Stream' Gas Plan
Turkish concern about too much dependence on Russian energy and an upcoming election mean Russia's plans for a new gas pipeline to southeastern Europe are unlikely to advance as quickly as Moscow might like, Turkish energy officials said on Wednesday. Facing objections from the European Union, Russia in December abandoned its $40 billion South Stream project which would have passed under the Black Sea to Bulgaria and carry up to 63 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas annually to Europe.
Turkey Strikes Deal with Gazprom for Gas Price Cut
Turkey has concluded a final deal with Russia's Gazprom that will cut the price of gas it buys from Russia by 10.25 percent, Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said on Friday. The deal will not lead to lower domestic gas prices because of the weakness of the lira, Yildiz told reporters in Ankara. Gazprom, in a statement on Friday, did not mention the price of its supplies but said it had reached a "win-win" agreement on the price of gas for Turkey.
Russia – Turkey Gas Pipeline Approved
Ankara hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Taner Yildiz, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources. The parties discussed the main issues of constructing a new gas pipeline across the Black Sea towards Turkey. The meeting considered the preliminary feasibility study on the new gas pipeline and approved its new route. The four strings will have an aggregate capacity of 63 billion cubic meters a year.
Turkey May Suggest LNG Project to Russia
Turkey could propose to Russia building an LNG terminal in an energy complex on its border with Greece, as part of talks on planned new gas pipeline with its northern neighbour, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said. Last week Russia scrapped the South Stream pipeline project to supply gas to southern Europe without crossing Ukraine, citing EU objections, and instead named Turkey as its preferred partner for an alternative pipeline.

Gazprom to Partner Turkey to Supply Gas
Moscow hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Taner Yildiz, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey. The meeting addressed the issues of strategic partnership, in particular, the prospects for cooperation deepening in natural gas supplies from Russia to Turkey. The parties noted that Turkey was among top consumers of Russian 'blue fuel' for many years and Russia…
Russia, Turkey Discuss Price for Raising Gas Supplies
Russia has yet to agree a price with Turkey over its planned increase in gas supplies to the country, officials said on Wednesday, as Moscow tries to diversify supply to counteract a rift with the West. Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said in April that Russia's Gazprom would boost capacity of the Blue Stream undersea gas pipeline to deliver another 3 billion cubic metres a year, to 19 billion cubic metres a year in total. No timetable for the increase was announced at the time.
Plans to Boost Blue Stream’s Capacity to 19 bi cu mtrs
Moscow hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Taner Yildiz, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey. It was agreed to load Blue Stream with Russian natural gas to full capacity as soon as possible in order to satisfy the growing demand of Turkish consumers. In this regard, it was pointed out that the volumes of Russian natural…
Turkey Snubs Possible Energy Deals with Israel After Gaza Offensive
Turkey is unlikely to sign any energy deals with Israel for the construction of a gas pipeline to Turkey because of a deepening political rift over Israel's Gaza offensive, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said on Tuesday. Ties were severely damaged following a deadly raid by Israeli commandoes on a Turkish yacht carrying pro-Palestinian activists defying a Gaza blockade in 2010. But Israeli firms had more recently…
Oil Output in Iraq's Kirkuk Slumps 90%
Oil output in Iraq's Kirkuk has slumped to 30,000 barrels a day since June, 90 percent down on earlier this year, and a federal pipeline to the Turkish port of Ceyhan may be out of action for over a year due to sabotage, Kirkuk's governor said on Thursday. Islamic State (IS) fighters have seized swathes of territory in lightning offensives in the arid but oil-rich north of the country, and have repeatedly attacked oil installations.
Iraqi Kurdistan Ships Oil Out of Turkish Port
Iraqi Kurdistan has shipped 10 million barrels of oil from the Turkish port of Ceyhan since May, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said, as the autonomous region employs new tactics to establish independent oil sales in defiance of Baghdad. Yildiz also said the 13th tanker had been shipped from the autonomous region, adding that the flow from northern Iraq to Turkey had increased to 180,000 barrels per day. Reporting by Ozge Ozbilgin

Iraqi Kurdistan has shipped 8.8 million barrels of oil from the Turkish port of Ceyhan since May, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said, as the autonomous region employs new tactics to establish independent oil sales in defiance of Baghdad. Sources and energy officials had told Reuters on Thursday that the sales from Ceyhan via the autonomous regions new pipeline were more than 8 million barrels in 11 tankers. A U.S.
Turkish Shipbuilder to Send Floating Power to Gaza
Turkish shipbuilder Karadeniz Holding plans to send an electricity generating vessel to Gaza to provide urgently needed power in the enclave left reeling by an Israeli bombing campaign that began last month. Karadeniz announced its intentions on Tuesday, shortly after Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said that a power ship - a floating power station - would be sent as soon as Gaza's port facilities had been upgraded.
Turkey: Iraqi Kurdistan Exports Continue
Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said on Monday 6.5 million barrels of Iraqi Kurdish crude oil had been shipped to world markets via Turkey's Ceyhan port since exports began and that a seventh tanker was being loaded at the terminal. Yildiz said crude flow on the Kirkuk-Ceyhan pipeline had been halted as of Monday due to maintenance work. Flows through the 120,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) pipeline began at the end of 2013 but the first cargo was not loaded until May.
Med Crude-Urals Stronger in Surgut Baltic Tenders
Russian Urals prices strengthened following a tender by oil firm Surgut in the Baltic, underpinned by a tighter July loading programme, traders said. Surgut was believed to have sold two cargoes to Eni and Total for July 12-13 loading at around dated Brent minus $2.90 per barrel, more than 50 cents stronger than previous price estimates. In the Platts window, Vitol offered an Aframax cargo in the Mediterranean for July 7-11 delivery at dated Brent minus $1.45…
Kurdistan Wants Up to 25% of Iraq Oil Revenue
The Kurdistan Regional Government believes its share of total Iraqi oil sales should be as high as 25 percent, the KRG's official spokesman said on Monday. It argues budget cuts from Baghdad had driven it to pursue independent oil sales outside the federal government's control. Safeen Dizayee, the former foreign affairs and education minister for the KRG, now the autonomous government's official spokesman, said that while under existing agreements Arbil is supposed to receive 17 percent of Iraqi oil revenues…
