Prices of EUROPE Gases rise slightly as trading is thin ahead of holidays

The Dutch and British wholesale prices of gas were slightly higher on Wednesday, in light trading ahead Christmas holidays throughout Europe. This is because there remains uncertainty over Russian gas supplies when the Ukraine Gas Transit Deal expires this year. The benchmark contract for the Dutch TTF hub, the front-month contract, was up 0.25 euro at 46.00 euros per Megawatt Hour, or 14.36 mmBtu by 0947 GMT. Meanwhile, the day-ahead contracts was up 0.69 euro at 45.92 Euro/MWh.

Britain announces plan to encourage the development of clean energy projects

The UK launched on Friday a plan that will make it easier for developers and investors to build clean energy project, which they hope will help them meet their climate targets as well as create jobs. New York grid operator warns about undersupply by 2033

The state grid operator warned on Thursday that New York City could face power shortages in summer 2033 due to a growing electricity demand and a decreasing supply of fossil-fired generators. The New York Independent System Operator stated that the trend to shut down power plants more quickly than they can be replaced by clean, new sources of supply, at the same time as electricity demand increases from electrification in buildings and transport, data centers, and chip makers, threatens the grid's stability.

Equinor is preparing to assess Sleipner B damages

Equinor, a Norwegian company, said it would survey the damage to its Sleipner B platform in the North Sea on Wednesday. The platform was closed late Monday night after a smoke alarm was raised in an electrical installation. Equinor, according to a spokesperson for the company, continued to meet its gas supply obligations to Europe on Wednesday by pumping additional gas from other fields. The spokesperson said that two emergency vessels doused Sleipner in seawater Tuesday, pumping from afar to cool the platform.

Iberdrola, a Spanish company, doubles its British investment plan from $11 billion to $21 billion

Iberdrola, the largest Spanish power company, has increased its investment plan in its British subsidiary Scottish Power from 24 billion pounds ($31.37billion) to 2024-2028. This was announced ahead of an international investment summit held in London. The investment comes at a time when Britain's Labour government is trying to attract billions of pounds worth of foreign investment as it celebrates its 100th day in office, and hosts global business leaders in the Oct. 14 Summit.

Iberdrola, a Spanish company, invests $15.7 billion into Scottish Power's division

Iberdrola - Spain's largest energy company - will invest up 12 billion pounds ($15.7billion) in Scottish Power, its British division, over the next four year, doubling their commitment to the UK in advance of a global summit on investment in London. The investment comes at a time when Britain's Labour government is trying to attract billions of pounds worth of foreign investment as it celebrates its 100th day in office, and hosts global business leaders in the Oct. 14 Summit.

Grid operators claim that Britain will have enough energy this winter to meet the needs of its citizens

The UK's electricity and Gas Grid Operators expect enough supplies this winter with more power imported and domestic production available than last season and high gas storage in Europe, said they on Tuesday. National Gas and Britain's National Energy System Operator, (NESO), publish annual reports on the supply and demand for the upcoming winter to assist businesses and governments in preparing. Craig Dyke is the director of system operations for NESO. NESO's base case for the de-rated margin is 5.2 gigawatts for winter 2024/25.

Norway's power grid operator reduces its demand forecast and deficit projection

Statnett, the Norwegian transmission system operator, said that the growth of Norway's electric demand in the next few years will be slower than originally projected because the electrification rate is lower than expected. The TSO stated that the Nordic countries will no longer face a deficit in power as a whole during this decade. However, some regions may face a shortage which must be met by imports. Statnett's most recent short-term analysis predicts that the Norwegian electricity demand will rise from 139 TWh to 160 TWh in 2029.

Belgium’s high-voltage transmission system operator Elia has informed said that the connection of the Seastar offshore wind farm marked the completion of Elia’s offshore power hub Modular Offshore Grid (MOG), Located 40 km off the Belgian coast, the Modular Offshore Grid switching platform bundles together the export cables from four offshore wind farms and transports the generated energy to the mainland via a shared transmission systemThe MOG has been operational since September 2019, when it was connected to the Rentel wind farm.

Parkwind, Bladt Sign Substation Deal for German Offshore Wind Farm

Belgium-based offshore wind farm developer Parkwind and Danish offshore construction company Bladt have signed a deal to build a substation for the Arcadis Ost 1 offshore wind project in the German Baltic SeaThe platform will be jointly developed and will be jointly operated with 50Hertz, the responsible Transmission System Operator (TSO) for connecting the offshore wind farms in the German Baltic Sea. The offshore wind farm, 19 km off the island of Rugen is expected to start offshore installation works in 2022.

VDL Wins TenneT Gig

European transmission system operator TenneT has awarded VDL Network Supplies a contract to support the construction of half of the wintrack pylons (high-voltage pylons) for a new 380 kV high-voltage connection from Borssele to Rilland.The new pylons, which are some 60 to 80 meters high, will be produced by VDL KTI in Mol (Belgium). MOL Group On Track to Meet 2019 Guidance

Hungarian international oil and gas company MOL Group delivered an EBITDA of USD 1.15bn in H1 2019, exactly half of the full-year 2019 guidance.Upstream EBITDA was 10% lower in H1 2019 at USD 553mn, as higher volumes were more than offset by lower oil and gas prices. The segment remained the largest free cash flow generator of the Group.
