Stena Drilling Rig Gets an Engine Overhaul

The first phase of a new diesel engine maintenance and service program has been completed for vessels owned by international drilling contractors Stena Drilling, power specialist Royston said.Work on the Wartsila 16v25 No.3 generator on board the Class 3 semi-submersible drilling platform Stena Don saw cylinder heads, pistons and conrods overhauled, as part of an extensive 20,000 running hour service.This required a four-man engineering team working day and night shifts on the vessel while it was located at Scapa Flow…

Total Pact with Stena Drilling for Laggan Well

Aberdeen-based Stena Drilling has announced that it has signed a deal with French oil giant Total to drill one well at the west of Shetland, Laggan field.A press release from Stena Drilling said: "We have signed a contract with Total E&P UK Ltd. for the Stena Don in 2019 to drill one well on the Laggan field located west of the Shetland Islands in water depths of up to 650m."The Stena Don is currently working for Total E&P UK on an Exploration well which is also located west of the Shetland Islands.

U.K.-based offshore drilling company Stena Drilling has placed a significant part of its safety equipment and servicing management under a VIKING Offshore Safety Agreement.In early 2018, an extensive review done by VIKING Life-Saving Equipment for its long-time customer revealed the potential for major cost and administration savings in placing much of the company’s safety equipment sourcing and administration under a VIKING Offshore Safety Agreement (OSA), Stena Drilling welcomed the input and signed up.

Ship Repair: Damen Wins Stena Don Refit Contract

Damen Verolme Rotterdam (DVR) won a contract by Stena Drilling for a refit of its drilling rig Stena Don. Stena Drilling Extends Inspection Contract with Sparrows

Sparrows Group has been awarded a three-and-a-half-year extension to its inspection services contract for Stena Drilling’s global fleet of drilling vessels. The contract scope includes carrying out LOLER lifting gear surveys, potential dropped objects surveys, cargo carrying unit (CCU) and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections as well as rig specific maintenance. As well as an extension to the contract, the scope has also been expanded to cover Stena’s entire fleet of seven vessels, including the Stena Don in Norway.

Stena Drilling has selected Semco Maritime’s facilities at Hanøytangen for a warm stacking of the offshore drilling rig Stena Don. The rig will be warm stacked at the Hanøytangen yard in Bergen, ready for future work, explains Business Development Manager Øistein Tømte, Semco Maritime. Statoil Cancels Rig Contact

Statoil decided to cancel the contract with Stena Drilling for the mobile rig Stena Don. The rig has been on contract to Statoil since February 7, 2014, performing operations for the Troll and Fram licences. The original contract termination date is February 7, 2017. The cancellation will take effect after the plugging activity on the Troll field has been completed, in early November. After this, Stena Don was committed to the Fram licence.

Statoil Halts Angola Exploration, Cancels Rig Contract

Norway's Statoil has halted its exploration campaign in Angola after several disappointing wells and canceled a rig contract with Stena Drilling, the firm said on Friday. "The costs of terminating the operations and associated services including the Stena Carron rig contract will be onerous contract and expensed in fourth quarter amounting to approximately $350 million," Statoil said in a statement.
