Rolls-Royce bags first nuclear power contract in China

Rolls-Royce has signed a contract to modernise rod control system equipment in 14 of CGN’s CPR1000 nuclear power units in China. It’s the first contract of its kind for Rolls-Royce in China and was signed with CGN subsidiary, Suzhou Nuclear Power Research Institute (SNPI). The newly formed partnership will also allow the CGN group to achieve cost reduction and efficiency improvements for the operations of its power plants.

Rolls-Royce wins $159m Power Station Deal

Rolls-Royce Power Systems subsidiary Bergen Engines signed contracts for the delivery of two power stations to Bangladesh with a contract value of $159m. The consignments to Confidence Power Rangpur Limited are destined for a power station in Rangpur delivering an output of 112 Megawatts electrical power. It will be supplied this year. A second, similar power station is set for delivery in 2018 as a further option.

Rolls-Royce Power Plant for Belgian Greenhouse

Since the beginning of the year, two Rolls-Royce combined heat and power plants have been supplying energy to a new tomato greenhouse operated by Maxburg BVBA in Meer in Belgium. The two gas-powered gensets have reliably supplied over 20 Megawatt hours of heat and power to date. Maxburg is now the 30th greenhouse for which Rolls-Royce has delivered combined heat and power plants.

Rolls-Royce to Provide Mooring System for Statoil's Njord A

Rolls-Royce has been chosen by Norway-based engineering and construction services firm Kvaerner to provide a mooring system for Norwegian oil and gas company Statoil’s oil platform, Njord A. Njord A is being upgraded by Kvaerner and Rolls-Royce has been chosen to provide an upgrade to its mooring system. The contract has a value of about £15 million ($19 mln).

The International Energy Agency states that 2.5% of global electricity demand is today provided by wind power—and that figure is set to grow by 42% through to 2021. In Europe alone, according to the 2016 report from the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), 754 new offshore turbines in 15 wind farms were grid-connected from 1 January to 31 December 2015, representing a connected capacity increase of 108% over 2014.

Siemens Raises Synergy Target for Dresser-Rand, Rolls Royce

German industrial group Siemens raised its synergy target for the integration of Dresser-Rand and Rolls Royce energy to about 365 million euros ($406 million) by fiscal 2019 from about 200 million euros previously. "Despite a material downturn in the sector, Siemens expects the acquisition of Dresser-Rand and Rolls-Royce's former energy business to generate considerably greater synergies than originally anticipated," it said in a statement.

Rolls-Royce delivered 36 MTU Onsite Energy brand natural-gas-powered gensets for a gas power plant in Accra, Ghana. The Type 16V 4000 L32 gensets produce 1,560 kW of electric power and will feed 56 MW into the country’s public grid.
