What are the main issues in Mozambique's elections?

Next week, Mozambicans are voting in legislative and presidential elections. It is almost certain that the Frelimo Party will extend its half-century in power. The party has been fighting a longstanding Islamist insurgency within one of Africa's biggest gas fields. Daniel Chapo is the candidate of the ruling party and a former law professor. OMV Will Keep Refineries Out of Asset Swap

Austrian energy company OMV will exclude its refineries from an asset swap being negotiated with Russia's Gazprom, its chief executive told staff at its main refinery on Wednesday, a person familiar with the matter said. OMV and Gazprom have for months been working towards a deal under which OMV would take a stake in the Urengoy gas field in Siberia, but no details have emerged on what assets OMV -- central Europe's biggest energy group -- might offer in return.

GS Caltex to buy 920,000 barrels of West African crude; first West African shipment in almost a year. South Korea's GS Caltex Corp is set to receive its first shipment of West African crude in almost a year as the country looks to diversify supply away from the Middle East. The purchase will help soak up a glut of supply among West African producers, who have been hit as the U.S. shale oil boom curbs demand in what was once their main market and as OPEC Gulf states boost supply.

Completion Of 2D Seismic Acquisition Programme - Somalia

Soma Oil & Gas Exploration Limited, the Somalia focused oil and gas exploration company, announced the completion of its offshore seismic acquisition programme which commenced in February 2014. The seismic acquisition programme was carried out by SeaBird Exploration (“SeaBird”) and concluded in June 2014 with over 20,500 km lines of 2D seismic data having been acquired across a 122,000 sq km offshore evaluation area. The processing of the seismic data is expected to take until late 2014 to complete.
