Crude Oil Cleanup Underway after Flowline Spill

An estimated maximum potential of 840 gallons of crude oil reportedly discharged from a flowline, owned by Texas Petroleum Management, into a marsh near Southwest Pass, Thursday. The U.S. Coast Guard and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are responding. Oil spill response organization Oil Mop has placed a containment boom to prevent further impact to the area, and the flowline is said to be secured. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
Abandoned Pipeline Spills Crude Oil in Barataria Bay

An abandoned flow line near Lake Grande Ecaille has reportedly discharged an estimated 4,200 gallons of crude oil, Monday, the U.S. Coast Guard said. The pipeline belongs to Hilcorp Energy, and the source of the discharge was reported as secured, Monday. The cause of the incident is under investigation. The oil spill response organization Environmental Safety and Health has been contracted by Hilcorp Energy to conduct cleanup operations, and the Coast Guard, NOAA, Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinators Office and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are also overseeing the response.
