An estimated maximum potential of 840 gallons of crude oil reportedly discharged from a flowline, owned by Texas Petroleum Management, into a marsh near Southwest Pass, Thursday.

The U.S. Coast Guard and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are responding.

Oil spill response organization Oil Mop has placed a containment boom to prevent further impact to the area, and the flowline is said to be secured.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
