First Steam-generation Unit Installed on Nuclear-powered Icebreaker Arktika

United Shipbuilding Corporation informed the installation of the first of the two steam generating unit (PHB), which is part of the reactor facility RITM-200. According to the company this first steam generating unit has been installed in the "Arctic" on September 2 and was loaded onto the parent nuclear icebreaker "Arktika" Project 22220. RITM-200 is a two-reactor plant designed by OKBM especially for the icebreaking fleet. It is part of the main power plant powered icebreaker and includes two steam-generating unit of thermal capacity of 175 MW each.

Gazprom Building up Resource Base

In 2014 Gazprom Group (excluding Gazprom Neft) performed exploratory drilling of above 125,000 m of rocks, constructed 32 prospecting and exploratory (7 and 25 accordingly) wells. Over six thousand linear kilometers of 2D seismic profiles were processed, 3D seismic survey covered in excess of 11 thousand square kilometers. In the Russian Federation, prospecting drilling was performed across an area of more than 112 thousand meters of rocks. 30 prospecting and exploratory (24 exploratory and 6 prospecting) wells were constructed.

Rosneft and ExxonMobil Start Drilling in the Kara Sea

Rosneft and ExxonMobil joint venture company Karmorneftegaz began drilling of Universitetskaya-1, the Russian Federation's northernmost well using the West Alpha rig. The start of the drilling was launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a teleconference with head of Rosneft Igor Sechin and head of ExxonMobil Russia Glenn Waller who were both present in the Kara Sea.
