NYK, JERA, Resonac to Study Supplying Ammonia as Fuel to Vessels

NYK, JERA Co., Inc. and Resonac Holdings Corporation signed an agreement to jointly study the supply of ammonia as fuel to ships.As part of the Green Innovation Fund Project of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), NYK is conducting research and development of a tugboat equipped with a domestic ammonia-fueled engine (A-Tug) together with other partner companies.

50 years of LNG imports in Japan

EDF Trading, JERA Form LNG Joint Venture

On July 3, 2018 JERA Co., Inc and EDF Trading Limited (EDFT) announced their intention to form an LNG optimization and trading joint venture, JERA Trading Pte. Ltd. (JERAT).In addition to this transaction, EDF Trading North America (EDFT NA) and JERA Energy America (JERA EA), an affiliate of JERA, entered into an agreement to fulfill JERA EA’s requirements at the Freeport liquefaction terminal in Quintana, Texas.

ReNew Power Buys Ostro Energy

ReNew Power, backed by Goldman Sachs and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), said on Monday it has acquired Ostro Energy Private Ltd, backed by London-based Actis LLP, in one of India's biggest renewable energy deals. ReNew did not disclose financial details, but two sources familiar with the matter said Ostro was acquired for an enterprise value of about 100 billion rupees ($1.54 billion), which includes debt and equity.

JERA imports first US LNG into Japan

JERA Co., Inc. announced that an LNG cargo produced in the contiguous United States (“US LNG”) has arrived at Joetsu LNG Terminal of Chubu Electric Power Company today. This is the first import of US LNG into Japan. JERA and Cheniere Marketing International, LLP have entered into a sale and purchase agreement for the cargo, which was loaded onto the LNG vessel Oak Spirit at Sabine Pass LNG Terminal in Louisiana, operated by Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P. on 7 December 2016.

Qatargas Delivers 1st Spot LNG Cargo to JERA

Qatargas Operating Company Limited (Qatargas) agreed with Japan’s newly established JERA Co. Inc. on the first spot Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cargo purchase under the newly executed Master Sales and Purchase agreement between the two companies. JERA is a recently formed joint venture between two of Japan’s largest power utility companies — Chubu Electric Power Co. Inc. and TEPCO Fuel & Power, Inc.
