Weatherford Rolls Out ForeSite Optimization Platform

Jadestone Energy to Restart Montara Production

Asia Pacific upstream oil and gas development and production company has announced the completion of works required to resume production from the Montara oil field. This restart follows an extensive maintenance and inspection shut down. "Work has been completed and the facilities are undergoing the final stages of pressure testing to ensure asset integrity and a safe restart of production," said a press release from company.The oil train has been successfully leak tested and the gas train is now being tested so that both can start together…

Aker BP Wins Approval for Gas Lift at Tambar

Norway's oil and gas watchdog has approved Aker BP's plans to modify facilities at the Tambar oilfield to support North Sea oil production it said on Thursday. The approved modification includes installation of a gas lift module to inject natural gas into wells to help to produce oil from the reservoir. "The gas lift is being installed because the reservoir pressure at Tambar is no longer sufficient to ensure satisfactory production," Norway's Petroleum safety authority said in a statement.

Skarfjell becomes tie-back to Gjøa

DEA and its partners in PL418 have selected a subsea tie-back to the Gjøa platform as the concept for development of the Skarfjell discovery in the Norwegian North Sea. This alternative is an enabler for developing the Gjøa platform as a stronger hub in the area and maximising recovery for Gjøa, Skarfjell and the area in general. Skarfjell is situated in the northeastern North Sea, approximately 20 kilometers southwest of the Gjøa platform. DEA is partner in Gjoa, with a share of 8%.

Aker BP Registers Strong Growth

Aker BP ASA increased reserves and maintained 'very good' results in exploration, drilling and wells, projects and production. The company has a view to a continued strong cash flow, and has a robust balance sheet give us freedom. - We are rigged for further growth, says CEO of Aker BP, Karl Johnny Hersvik. Aker BP's production in 2016 was 118,200 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd); 80 percent oil and 20 percent gas. The company expects production in 2017 will increase to between 128,000 and 135,000 boepd, with $ 11 in average production cost per barrel.

BP Awards Bibby Combined Diving Campaign

Bibby Offshore, a subsea services provider to the oil and gas industry, says it has secured a 15-day project with BP, due to commence in August 2016. The contract will see diving support vessel Bibby Topaz, working on four BP operations across three of its North Sea assets. The platforms involved include Central North Sea-based asset Bruce, east of Shetland-based Magnus, and the Mirren field, which is part of the Eastern Trough Area Project (ETAP), one of the largest and most complex North Sea oil and gas developments of the past 20 years.

FPSOs Sit Unprecedentedly Idle

The 20 year four-fold growth pattern in the world’s FPSO fleet stalls out in 2016 with a record number of FPSOs idle and available for redeployment – or perhaps to be forced into other uses, lay up or scrap. FPSO redeployments typically are far more complex, costly and risky than for (say) drillships and yet the need for redeploying idle FPSOs is now in the forefront of the industry like never before as FPSO owners also have to face the worst ever down market for their equipment and services.

First Subsea Completes Work on Goliat FPSO

Subsea connector specialist First Subsea informs it has completed the installation of bend stiffener connections for gas lift and production risers, power cables and umbilicals, for the Goliat FPSO in the Norwegian Barents Sea. Operated by ENI Norge AS, the Goliat FPSO is the first offshore oil development in Norway's Arctic region, in the Barents Sea. In total the Goliat FPSO features 11 Type II bend stiffener connections (BSC) at present, with a further 10 receptacle I-tubes preinstalled within the base of the vessel, enabling more tie-backs to be added as field production increases.

DNV GL Wins Frame Agreement with Wintershall Norge

DNV GL has been selected by Wintershall Norge AS to provide a frame agreement for global inspection services for its developments offshore Norway. The overall contract is expected to exceed  $1.2 million. The term of the contract is five years, with an option for two, two-year extensions and covers all Wintershall’s projects on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). It will initially be used for the ongoing Maria development. DNV GL will perform inspection, test and surveillance activities on a worldwide basis as instructed by Wintershall Norge AS.

Harkand Secures Decommissioning Work in UKCS

Global  inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) company Harkand, has commenced decommissioning work in the United Kingdom Continental Shelf supporting Maersk Oil UK’s work in the Leadon field. Earlier this year, the IRM firm secured a multi-million pound 12-month frame agreement with Maersk Oil in the region for the provision of its two dive support vessels (DSVs), the Harkand Da Vinci and Harkand Atlantis as well as supporting onshore and offshore personnel. Technip to Supply Flexible Pipes for Lula Alto Pre-salt Field

Technip was awarded a major(1) contract from Tupi BV, a consortium composed of Petrobras Netherland BV (PNBV, 65%), BG (25%) and Galp (10%), for the ongoing development of the Lula Alto field, located in the Santos Basin pre-salt area, Brazil. This contract covers the supply of around 200 kilometers of flexible pipes and associated equipment, including gas lift, gas and water injection, gas export and production lines. These high technological flexible pipes are designed to meet pre-salt challenges with water depths of up to 2,500 meters and high pressures.

DNV GL Wins Contract for Maria Development

DNV GL has been selected by Wintershall Norge AS as the sole supplier for the combined role of Independent Verification Body (IVB) and Third Party Design Verification scope for the subsea, umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) part of the Maria field development project. The contract is expected to run until the end of 2018, with a value of potential $3.95 million. New Stage of Facilities Construction for V. Filanovsky Field

The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) is involved in preparation and transportation to the operation site of the central processing platform (CPP) topside section for V. Filanovsky field in the northern part of the Caspian Sea. The preparatory work started on 5 June 2014 at sub-assembly site in Ilyinka, Astrakhan region. The first stage included the 10250-ton CPP topside section transfer from a slip to a specially equipped transport-assembly barge Yury Kuvykin. BSEE Aims to Strengthen Offshore Production Safety

As part of President Obama’s commitment to promoting safe and responsible offshore oil and gas development, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) Director James Watson today announced another key step to strengthen both human safety and environmental protection on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf. The proposed rule, which will be published in the Federal Register tomorrow, implements best practices and updates regulations regarding production safety systems and equipment used to collect and treat oil and gas from offshore production facilities.
