EIA: Permian Basin gas capacity will increase with the launch of Matterhorn pipeline

The U.S. Energy Information Administration said Tuesday that the Matterhorn Express Pipeline is expected to begin operating in this month. Matterhorn, in a joint venture between Whitewater, EnLink Midstream and MPLX will transport natural gases from the Permian basin to Katy, near Houston, Texas. The pipeline can transport 2.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. EIA estimates that by increasing the capacity of the Permian Gas Takeaway, the Matterhorn Pipeline could narrow or eliminate the difference in price between Waha Hub and Henry Hub.

Asian LNG Prices Little Changed in Quiet Trade

FERC Urgerd to Cut Pipeline Risks

New York State agencies urged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to take action to reduce pipelines risks near the Indian Point nuclear facility in Westchester County, the Department of Public Service said. The New York Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, and the Departments of Public Service, Environmental Conservation, and Health called on the FERC to ban additional natural gas capacity on the Algonquin pipelines, the Department of Public Service said in a press release on Friday.

Sinopec to Boost Gas Capacity Two-thirds by 2020

China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) , plans to boost its domestic natural gas production capacity by about two-thirds by 2020, its chairman said on Wednesday, part of plans to develop clean energy. The state-owned company aims to increase its domestic natural gas capacity to 40 billion cubic metre (bcm) by 2020, from 23 bcm currently, Chairman Wang Yupu said at a news conference in Hong Kong. Wang said Sinopec had prioritised natural gas in the company's development plans in the coming five years.

Poland's PGNiG Expects Norway Gas Pipeline Link by 2022

Polish gas company PGNiG's plan to build a pipeline between Poland and Norway to reduce its dependence on Russia is expected to introduce a few billion cubic metres (bcm) of annual gas capacity by 2022, it said on Thursday. The timing of the project would bring the pipeline online in time for the 2022 expiry of state-run PGNiG's current deal to buy gas from Russia's Gazprom. PGNiG buys up to 10.2 bcm of gas a year from Gazprom, catering for the bulk of Poland's yearly consumption of nearly 16 bcm.

Russian Gas Supply to Serbia Up 23.6%

Russian gas deliveries to Serbia grew by 23.6 per cent to 1.7 billion cubic meters according to preliminary figures for 2015. Russia, Serbia Address Cooperation in Energy Sector

At a meeting hosted in Belgrade today between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Aleksandar Vucic, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia issues of the bilateral cooperation in the energy sector were deliberated upon. Special consideration was given to Russian pipeline gas supplies to Serbia as well as to the joint projects in the gas sector. Slovak Pipeline Sells Extra Gas Capacity on Link to Ukraine

Slovak pipeline operator Eustream said on Thursday it has sold 4.5 million cubic metres of additional daily gas shipments on a link transporting deliveries to Ukraine. It said bidders had bought up the extra capacity until 2019. "Shippers' interest significantly exceeded the offered capacity," Eustream said in a statement. That puts the daily amount Slovakia can pump to Ukraine via an upgraded older link to 31.5 million cubic metres per day and 11.5 billion cubic metres per year.
