Slovak Pipeline Sells Extra Gas Capacity on Link to Ukraine

Posted by November 20, 2014

Slovak pipeline operator Eustream said on Thursday it has sold 4.5 million cubic metres of additional daily gas shipments on a link transporting deliveries to Ukraine.

It said bidders had bought up the extra capacity until 2019.

"Shippers' interest significantly exceeded the offered capacity," Eustream said in a statement.

That puts the daily amount Slovakia can pump to Ukraine via an upgraded older link to 31.5 million cubic metres per day and 11.5 billion cubic metres per year.

The pipeline was put into operation in September this year after Russia cut off supplies to Ukraine in June.
