Arkona Offshore Wind Farm Comes Online

The Arkona offshore wind farm in the German part of the Baltic Sea has supplied the first electricity into the German electricity grid.The 385 MW project, operated by E.ON in partnership with Equinor, when completed can deliver power to approximately 400,000 German households. After the first of 60 turbines now being online, further wind turbines will be launched into operation.“First power in the Arkona wind project represents a milestone in the market of renewable energy and we are proud to participate together with E.ON and the transmission system operator 50Hertz.

Hydro Group Completes MeyGen Contract

Aberdeen-based subsea cable and connector specialist, Hydro Group has completed a contract with technology developer and supplier of tidal turbines, Andritz Hydro Hammerfest (AHH). Statoil: High Activity in Deep Waters

This spring and summer saw buzzing activity at water depth of 1300 meters on the Aasta Hansteen field. Four vessels have carried out successful field operations for nearly 200 days. The waters on the Aasta Hansteen field are deep, very deep, as much as 1300 meters to be precise, but for the deep-sea fish there was much to watch on the field this year. Pipelines, risers and spoolers have been installed and hooked up to subsea templates and umbilicals that were installed last year.

Cathelco MGPS for Latest Lamprell-built Jack-up

Cathelco will provide a marine growth prevention system (MGPS) for the latest in a series of jack-up drilling rigs to be built by Lamprell, the UAE based  leading provider of fabrication, engineering and contracting services to the offshore and onshore oil and gas and renewable energy industries. This will be the ninth MGPS to be supplied to Lamprell for jack-up rigs constructed at its Hamriyah facility. The order was won by Cathelco Middle East FZC based in Sharjah which was set up in 2015 to provide sales and engineering support for customers throughout the region.

ROCOL, TTS Syncrolift Ink Lubricants Supply Deal

Global technology leader and lubricant manufacturer, ROCOL, has secured a key agreement with the world’s leading shiplift company. TTS Syncrolift, which manufactures 90% of all shiplifts worldwide, has appointed ROCOL as its recommended lubricant manufacturer. Norway-based TTS Syncrolift is part of TTS Group, a global organisation that designs, develops and supplies equipment solutions and services for the marine and offshore industries. ROCOL products will be applied to all new build shiplifts by TTS.

Trelleborg Signs Framework Agreement with Statoil

Trelleborg’s offshore operation in Norway, signed a framework agreement with Statoil for the supply of Elastopipe, corrosion protection, Passive Fire Protection (PFP) as well as Thermal Insulation (Vikotherm R2, S1 and P7). The framework agreement is signed for six years. Hans Leo Hals, Managing Director for Trelleborg’s offshore operation in Norway, commented: “We are very proud that Statoil has chosen to sign a framework agreement with us for our core products and solutions.

Jotun Launches Jotachar 1709 Coating

Following the success of Jotachar JF750 mesh-free epoxy passive fire protection coating, Jotun has now introduced Jotachar 1709, a mesh free epoxy developed specifically for the hydrocarbon processing and energy industries. Jotachar 1709 has been developed using the technology platform behind Jotun’s Jotachar JF750, which the manufacturer says continues to be embraced by the offshore and onshore industries as an alternative to traditional mesh containing solutions for hydrocarbon pool and jet fire scenarios.

Cathelco Wins Trio of Orders for ICCP Systems on FPSOs

Cathelco have won orders to supply hull corrosion protection systems for three FPSOs. Two of the systems are being supplied to MODEC, while the third will be installed by Sembcorp Marine’s Jurong yard in Singapore. The FPSO Cidade de Campos dos Goyatacazes is being built by MODEC for deployment off Brazil by Petronas. It will be capable of processing 150,000 barrels of crude oil per day, 176 million cubic feet of gas, and have a storage capacity of 1.6 million barrels. Due for delivery in late 2017, it will be positioned in the Campos Basin, 125 kilometers from Macae.

Trelleborg to Enhance Safety at Sverdrup Oil Field

Trelleborg’s offshore operation has secured a contract to supply its thermal insulation, corrosion and passive fire protection (PFP) solutions for use on the new Johan Sverdrup oil field in the North Sea, off Norway. Contracted by Kvaerner, Trelleborg’s offshore operation in Norway will supply its Vikotherm R2 thermal insulation coating to be applied to 12 risers. In addition, the company will provide corrosion coating for 195 riser guides, 40 caisson guides and 15 J-tube guides.

CWind to Supply Corrosion Protection for Offshore Wind Farm

CWind is to provide a three months corrosion protection campaign to the offshore wind farm Westermost Rough in the North Sea, owned jointly by DONG Energy, The UK Green Investment Bank and Marubeni Corporation. CWind will deliver the campaign as an integrated service package that includes a crew transfer vessel as well as a team of technicians to undertake the full range of required tasks. Structural elements of offshore wind farms are continuously exposed to one of the harshest environments.

Petrojarl I Drydocked for EPC Redeployment Upgrade

After four months of preliminary work alongside, FPSO Petrojarl I moved on April 16, 2015 into Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam’s 307m long x 47 m wide dry dock no 8 for work to the hull. In all, the vessel will spend a year at DSR before heading off to the South Atlantic. The Teekay managed FPSO arrived at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam in January 2015. DSR was awarded an EPC contract by Teekay Petrojarl LLC for the upgrade, on completion of which the vessel will be redeployed at the Atlanta field in Brazil.

CWind announced the launch of its wholly-owned subsidiary in Germany. CWind Germany will be headquartered in Hamburg and will be responsible for the sales and marketing of CWind’s services in Germany. The company has also said it has won the license to lease employees under German law, known in Germany as ‘Arbeitnehmerüberlassungslizenz’ and is now in a position to lease employees as third party technicians to German client companies. CWind is building a leading position in the U.K. and Germany and is looking at opportunities to further expand its footprint in the region.
