Crude Tanker Backlog in US Gulf Eases on Robust Imports

A backlog of tankers off the shores of the U.S. Gulf Coast that swelled in the final quarter of 2015 is easing, with the volume of crude waiting to discharge declining by more than half in just a month's time. There currently are 27 vessels offshore in the U.S. Gulf Coast waiting to discharge an estimated 15 million barrels of crude, compared to 36 million barrels at the start of December, ClipperData said on Tuesday.

U.S. RBOB Futures Rise on Higher RINs Prices

U.S. gasoline futures rose nearly 4 percent on Tuesday morning on higher requirements for refiners to meet U.S. renewable fuel requirements, traders said. U.S. gasoline futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange were up 3.5 percent at $1.35 a gallon at 10:28 a.m. EST, outpacing both the U.S. crude and the global crude benchmark. The RBOB crack spread rose to $15.18 a barrel, the highest since August of last year.

Enbridge Hoping for Cross-Border Pipeline Presidential Permit

Canadian pipeline company Enbridge Inc hopes to get a U.S. presidential permit for its proposed Alberta Clipper pipeline expansion by the end of 2015, president of liquids pipelines Guy Jarvis said on Friday. The Alberta Clipper pipeline ships Canadian crude from Hardisty, Alberta, to Superior, Wisconsin, and Enbridge plans to increase capacity to 800,000 barrels per day from 500,000 bpd. Cross-border pipeline projects need presidential approval to go ahead.

Winergy to Rebuild Turbine Gearboxes for First Wind

First Wind has contracted Winergy Drive Systems Corporation (WDSC) to rebuild gearboxes for some of its Clipper wind turbines for wind farms across the country, from Vermont to Hawaii. The multiyear contract sees WDSC expand its services to include remanufacturing of gearboxes built by competitors. WDSC will offer the ability to dissemble the 97,000-pound Clipper gearbox, replace parts with new components and complete a full-load test before returning it back to the customer.

Enbridge: No plans to Imitate Kinder Morgan Consolidation

Enbridge Inc, Canada's largest pipeline company, said on Monday it has no plans to imitate rival Kinder Morgan Inc's $44 billion plan to consolidate its publicly traded units into a single company. Enbridge, whose separately traded affiliates include Enbridge Energy Partners and Enbridge Income Fund Holdings Inc, said it has no interest in returning those companies into the corporate fold and cannot see a competitive advantage coming from such a move.
