Wind Energy Marine Selects NSSLGlobal

Fluxys to Add a Permanent LNG Bunkering Facility in Antwerp

Fluxys has taken over the concession in the port of Antwerp at quay 526-528 to make liquefied natural gas (LNG) available as an alternative fuel for ships and barges, in one of the Port Authority's key initiatives to make the port's activities more sustainable. Fluxys will add a permanent LNG bunkering facility by the end of next year to complement the existing mobile (truck-to-ship) bunkering service.

Record Breaker: AAL Delivers for Offshore Wind

AAL reports that it has completed three sailings into Adelaide with 45 windmill blades, turbine generators and other related components on each sailing, destined for the new AGL Silverton Windfarm in the Barrier Ranges of New South Wales. Comprising 58 turbines, the windfarm will produce 200MW (780,000 MWh of renewable energy) each year. At 63 meters in length, the blades carried by AAL are the longest ever to be shipped into Australia.

Nordsee One Wind Farm Construction Kicks Off

DEME Group’s offshore marine engineering company GeoSea announced the start of the construction works for the offshore wind farm Nordsee One in the German North Sea. The Nordsee One offshore wind farm (85 percent Northland Power – 15 percent RWE) is situated approximately 40 kilometers north of the island of Juist and consists of 54 wind turbines which will be installed in water depths ranging between 25 and 29 meters.

GSE Rentals is now wholly owned by Unique Group and the company's workforce will be retained. Former owner, Stan Moroney, will continue as business advisor and consultant to Unique Group. Unique Group has more than 20 years of survey rental experience globally. By acquiring GSE Rentals, it can strengthen its presence in non oil and gas markets, with a focus on offshore renewable energy projects, submarine cables, dredging, ports and harbours and civil projects.

New Hang Off Connector at Windforce 2014

First Subsea cable connector for offshore wind turbines

Connector specialist First Subsea is announced the debut of a new cable connector for offshore wind turbines at Windforce 2014, Bremen (June 17-19). The Hang Off Connector reduces the time, cost and risk associated with offshore cable installation, First Subsea said. Unlike traditional hang off devices, the First Subsea Connector provides an instant airtight structural connection to the lower deck, significantly reducing cable installation and termination times.

GE Marine reports that the German Navy’s Baden-Württemberg(F125-class) frigatewas christened in December 2013, powered by a GE LM2500 gas turbine-based propulsion system. The christening ceremony was held at ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems in Hamburg, Germany.
