Armada Sterling III FPSO Named
In December 2014, Bumi Armada Berhad through its wholly-owned subsidiary Bumi Armada Offshore Holdings Limited (BAOHL), together with its joint venture company, PT Armada Gema Nusantara (PT AGN) were awarded a contract to supply one floating, production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) for the Madura BD Field, approximately 65 km east of Surabaya and about 16km south of Madura Island, offshore Indonesia issued by Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML). The contract is for a fixed charter of ten years and five additional annual options.
“Armada Sterling III FPSO, is a unique project as she is the world's first floating facility that has a large sulphur processing plant installed capable of producing molten sulphur. The hydrocarbons in the Madura BD field are extremely “sour” and as a result, the FPSO has the capacity to process approximately 25 tonnes of sulphur per day while producing 7,500 barrels (“bbl”) of condensate crude oil and 110 mmscfd gas. It was a challenge to operate with such high sulphur levels and thanks to the capabilities and collaboration of the teams at BAB and all our partners and contractors, we have completed a fit-for-purpose solution for our client HCML," said Mr Leon Harland, Chief Executive Officer of Bumi Armada.
“Once again, we have worked with our partners from the Shapoorji Palonji Group on this conversion project and together, have produced a great medium sized FPSO. The Karapan Armada Sterling III will now await departure for anchorage to complete her commissioning phase before heading to location in Indonesia,” concluded Harland.
