- As a Marine Technician, I am trained to build, deploy, and manage subsea equipment including remotely operated vehicles (ROV), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), and autonomous surface vehicles (ASV). These vehicles are used in the field for underwater data collection and intervention; whether for hydrographic surveying purposes or marine asset inspections, construction, dredging, or salvage. The technology I have used in the past included acoustic sonar devices such as multibeam, side scan, scanning sonar, Dual-axis profilers, and magnetometers. My training has allowed me to not only collect data in the field but also process the digital information using Hypack, QPS, SIS, and ArcMap. A marine technician is furthermore trained to apply project management skills to plan a mission, manage a team, design a project scope, JSA risk assessments, bill of materials, and scheduling.
