JOB DESCRIPTION

SHIP FITTER

• Crop out, wash out frame, internal plate, bottom plate, side shell, bulkheads, etc.
• Lay out and cutting plates and fabricate metal structural parts, such as bulkheads, and frames; and braces them in position within hull for riveting or welding.
• Lay out position of parts on metals, working from blueprints or templates and using scribe and hand tools.
• Locates and marks reference lines; such as center, buttock, and frame lines.
• Positions parts in hull of a Ship, assisted by rigger.
• Aligns parts relation to each other using jacks, lever blocks, chain blocks, clips, wedges, etc.
• Marks location of holes to be drilled and installs temporary fasteners to hold parts in a place for welding or revising.
• Install packing, gasket, liner, and structural accessories and members such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips.
• May prepare molds and templates for fabrication of non-standard parts.
• Tack and weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding.
• May roll, bend flange, cut and shape plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts using shop machinery; such as plate roll, presses, bending  brakes, and joggle machine
• Grind and clean the plate for final inspection.

• cut and grind the workpiece,chip and hammer became straighten.
• design as well construct templates fixture using hand tools.
• mark the reference point and face block transpose then to workpiece using measuring device,squares,chalk,soapstone.
• remove the high spot or a tack weld using a portable grinder or a cutting torch,
• buil up the low spot or short pieces with weld.
• lift or move the material  finished product using a large crane.

• Grind and clean the plate and prepare for welding and QA Inspection
