POST:   MANAGER, CORPORATE

Responsibilities:

Rangk Limited is a provider of offshore logistics support services to the oil and gas E&P companies in Nigeria. The company has a running fleet of six vessels of different configurations servicing a number of International Oil Companies in Nigeria.  The total value of the Assets (vessels) in estimated to be over $20.0M and a Turn-Over of more than One Billion Naira annually. My primary duties include among others, the following:

• Reporting to the General Manager, Operations, I function as the Safety Officer in charge of Health, Security, Safety and Environment (HSSE) issues; responsibilities include but are not limited to compliance with all HSSE undertakings and procedures on and off contract, offshore and onshore. I manage all records, statistics and other necessary information the company requires. To this end, I coordinated the development the Company’s Safety, Quality and Operations Manual - Safety Management Systems, various standard operating procedures on the vessels; the different Corporate policies on all aspects of HSSE and Vessels operations.

• I am the Radiation Safety Officer of the Company. I interface between the company and the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NNRA); my roles have included getting the Company’s designated vessel registered and be fit to carry and transport nuclear materials such as isotopes from client’s bases to their offshore locations.

• I was able to coordinate the registration of the Company with the Offshore Contractors International Marine Forum’s Offshore Vessels Inspection Database (OCIMF/OVID).

• I also handle matters bothering on Competencies, Training and Certification requirements of the Crews; the administration and support staff as well. To this end, I developed the Training Policy and Schedule for the both the crews and support staff.

• Reporting to the Executive Director of Shipping Services, I handle the Insurance matters relating to the operational Equipment and Crew – Hall and Machinery (H&M) Insurance, and the Protection and Indemnity (PandI) Insurance.

• Reporting to the Executive Director, Offshore Services, I handle matters relating to Corporate Image of the company; this involves design and production of corporate profile, management of relationships with our partners and clients.

• I berthed the Safety Management Committee of the company; I also steer it’s activities so as to ensure all safety procedures and requirements are standardized and adhered to company-wide.

• I manage our relationships with the Nigeria Ship-owners’ Association of Nigeria (NiSA) and it’s annual Nigerian Maritime Expo (NIMAREX), Nigerian Petroleum Exchange (NIPEX), Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board (NCD&MB), Nigerian Chamber of Shipping (NCS), Nigeria Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NNRA), Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) and the United Sates Commercial Consulate. I, also, represent the company at the Security Sub-Committee with Marine Vessel Owners of the Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS), ExxonMobil Contractors Forum and other relevant bodies.

• I am also involved in the matters of Business Development; thus I am part of the Asset (Vessels/Ships) Management Team. The team monitors and directs the operation of the vessels in order to ensure the high level of efficiency demanded in the execution of Contracts. Thus the Team acts as the Interface between Rangk Ltd and her clients. The Team ensures strict compliance to the agreed Terms of Contract.

Milestones:

• Aside participating actively in the team that negotiated the Sale’s & Purchase of MV C Radiant, a Fast Support & Intervention Vessel (FSIV) from the United States in 2012, I was part of the delivery team that sailed Vessels from United States to Nigeria. A journey of over 6,500 nautical miles. I sailed up to Belem, Brazil; a journey of about 3,500 nautical miles.

• Developed a 20-year Corporate Development Plan that was present to the US EXIM Bank during the visit of the Bank’s Representative official visit to Nigeria in September 2010.

C.ii.         March 2005 – September 2006:  POST: REGIONAL LOGISTICS MANAGER (Kaduna Region)

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Managing Director through the General Manager, I did oversee the operations in the entire northern region of Nigeria, with the regional office based in Kaduna. The region operated with a fleet of over 20 trailers (Assets worth over N300M), over 70 staff over comprising of drivers and their assistants, auto-engineering crew, accounts and administrative staff. The operations involved the supervision of deliveries and orders in accordance with set weekly targets; this we pushed up from an average of N3.0m to over N4.0m (i.e. >N200.0M turnover annually). I supervised the development of work schedule for the drivers in order to ensure timely deliveries, compliance to vehicle maintenance schedule, and management of the procurement process of spares and parts by emplacing inventory control measures.

• Financial Products Development: I participated in the development of various financial products and the respective strategies to launch into the market.
• Funds Management: We undertook market research and the corresponding risk analysis of investable funds; I was also on the credit committee to assess financial facilities and monitor the performance of such facilities.
• Import and Export Trading: Aside facilitating loans for customers’ Import-Export (Impex) businesses, we also invested our funds in Impex; the company engaged in the importation of various merchandize such as household appliances.

POST:  ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST I

I functioned as a Desk Officer in International Unit of the Planning and Evaluation Department. The unit was responsible for the development of the Agency’s various Policies, Industrial Regulations and Procedures; we were also responsible for the follow-up actions (Policy Formulation, Analysis and Execution) on International Environmental Treaties and Agreements to which Nigeria is a Party. These were mainly Bilateral and Multi-Lateral (UN, IMF, AU, World Bank) Issues such as Climate Change, Ozone Layer Depletion, Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Wastes, Desertification, etc.

1.              Milestones:

• Served as Personal Assistant to the Head (Asst. Director) of Planning and Evaluation Department.
• Researched into the Sources and Levels Ozone Depleting Substances in Nigeria. This formed the baseline study for further researches and ultimately the establishment of the Nigerian National Ozone Office in the United Nations Office, Abuja.
• Participated in the wide reaching processes leading to the promulgation of the various Waste Management (Solid, Effluent and Air Borne) Standards and Laws.
• Research Assistant to the UNEP Consultant that developed the “Towards a Sustainable Environmental Management Plan for Nigeria” in 1991; this was Nigerian Government’s Official Report to the Earth Summit.
• Served as Research Assistant to the World Bank Consultant on the Status of Nigeria in the Usage of Ozone Depleting Substances by Nigerian Industries in 1991.
• Served as Research Assistant to the UNIDO Consultant on the Financing of the Transfer of Technology for the Nigerian Industries using Ozone Depleting Substances.
• Part of the Nigerian Delegation to the 4United Nations Preparatory Session for the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (Earth Summit) held in the U.N. Headquarters in New York, April, March 3 – April 2, 1992.
• Attached at various times, to work with International Consultants from the World Bank, United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), United Nations Industrial Organization (UNIDO) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on several projects.
