Venture Global won't begin LNG deliveries to Italy Edison until 2025
Italian energy group Edison reported on Monday that U.S. Gas Exporter Venture Global LNG had told it to not expect contract cargoes until April 2025 from its Louisiana export facilities.
Edison, along with Shell, BP, and Repsol, has filed contract arbitration against Venture Global over its failure to deliver contracted cargoes more than two years since it began exporting LNG from Calcasieu Pass LNG Plant.
Edison signed a contract in September 2017 for a 20-year period to receive LNG produced by the project. However, it has yet to receive any cargoes. Venture Global said it has been selling cargoes produced by the project since March 2022.
Arlington, Virginia's LNG exporter, has stated that the plant is not fully commercialized due to technical issues associated with a defective power generation system.
Venture Global informed Edison that the first cargoes of its contract will not be available before April 2025, Edison stated in a Monday press release.
Venture is not available to comment immediately.
Edison reported that the Louisiana facility produced, exported, and sold more than 20 billion dollars in revenue from 355 cargoes on the spot market. (Reporting from Gnaneshwarrajan in Bengaluru and Francesca Landini, Milan and Curtis Williams, Houston)
