Venture Global LNG says it will begin commercial operations at its Calcasieu Pass Louisiana facility in April.
Venture Global LNG announced on Monday that it will start commercial operations in Louisiana at its Calcasieu Pass facility on April 15th, three years after shipping its first LNG cargo and following a dispute of two years with its customers.
The company has informed long-term clients, including Shell and BP, of the beginning of commercial operations.
Venture Global's failure years after it began selling superchilled gases on the spot market to begin commercial operations led to contract arbitration lawsuits brought by some world's leading oil and gas producers including BP Shell Edison Orlen Repsol. The companies did not respond to requests for comment.
The company stated that the facility would start commercial operations within 68 months of receiving the financial approval. This is despite the significant impacts from two hurricanes, COVID-19 and manufacturing problems.
Venture Global stated in a press release that "these efforts now enable us to provide our long-term clients with the full contract term of 20 years for the lowest-cost and clean LNG, as promised under our agreements."
Venture Global has recently become one of the largest U.S. Liquefied Natural Gas companies.
It became a public institution
Traded company in January.
The company told investors that they would extend the commissioning period to maximize profits by selling on the spot market for higher prices.
