Venture Global LNG Accuses Kiewit of Sharing Confidential Documents with Shell

August 8, 2024

Venture Global LNG, a U.S.-based liquefied gas company, sued Kiewit Construction on Friday for allegedly passing confidential documents to Shell Plc.

Calcasieu Pass, a plant owned by Venture Global LNG in Louisiana has long been the subject of a dispute involving BP Plc and Shell over the access to LNG produced at the facility.

Venture Global filed with the New York State Supreme Court stating that "Kiewit had been entrusted this information in order to facilitate its construction of a natural-gas liquefaction terminal and export facility in Cameron Parish in Louisiana, developed by Venture Global."

Venture Global stated that the confidential information includes proprietary methods of project design and configuration, as well as detailed information on the design and construction of a multibillion dollar facility.

The company added that its project manager had spoken directly to Shell regarding the project.

Venture Global is seeking an arbitration award to stop Kiewit from disclosing any more confidential information.

Venture Global stated in a press release that it was "equally disappointed" by Shell, who appeared to have requested this information.

Shell and Kiewit have not responded to the request for comment.
