Ukraine's DTEK will receive 107 million euros from EU and US for the rebuilding of power facilities
The European Commission and the United States have announced that Ukraine's largest private power company DTEK will receive 107 millions euros ($112,30 million) to restore the power plants destroyed by Russian attacks against the Ukrainian energy system.
The company stated that it would receive 62.8 million Euros from the EU, and $46.1 from the U.S. Government.
Since this spring, Russia has intensified their attacks on Ukraine's energy sector. They have destroyed about 90% of DTEK's generating capacity.
DTEK announced that the U.S. Government, along with the European Commission, donated 106.6 million Euros in building materials and equipment to DTEK. This donation will provide vital support for an energy system that has been ravaged by Russian drone and missile attacks.
The company stated that the European Commission will donate 62.8 millions euros in equipment and materials for restoring 1.8 gigawatts of generating power, as well as to protect equipment at power plants from sub-zero temperatures, snow and rain.
It said that the work would ensure a reliable and stable energy supply for more than 2,000,000 Ukrainians.
DTEK reported that the U.S. will provide $46.1 million for control systems, and dozens new transformers vital to energy supply.
