The sanctions against Sovcomflot were not based on any violations by the company or legal basis. They were motivated solely by political interests, including those of the United States.

The new sanctions against Sovcomflot vessels will create additional operational problems, it says.

"Sovcomflot is continuing to work to minimize the negative impact on its operations of the sanctions. The company said that it would continue to adhere high standards in terms of safety, quality and maritime operations while complying with all laws and requirements.
