Snam Could Buy Stake in TAP Pipeline in Future

Posted by October 31, 2014

Italian gas infrastructure company Snam could in the future buy a stake in the TAP pipeline that will transport gas from Azerbaijan to Italy, the group's CEO said on Friday.

"(We could) evaluate in the future a participation... but not today," Carlo Malacarne told analysts in a conference call on third quarter results.

He said that taking a stake in the pipeline did not currently fit the risk profile of the group which operates in regulated gas businesses.

Belgium's Fluxys, a partner of Snam, already has an equity holding in TAP.
