SignalFire Remote Sensing System for Oil & Gas

February 11, 2015

The SignalFire Remote Sensing System™, an innovative long-range mesh networking technology specifically designed for challenging, large-scale environments, provides cost effective remote monitoring of well pad tubing and casing pressures in upstream oil and gas fields.

The SignalFire Remote Sensing System (SFRSS) consists of a gateway and remote nodes that interfaces with a wide variety of sensors, transmitters, and actuators using industry standard interfaces. As a truly wireless system, the SFRSS is significantly less expensive that an equivalent wired system – particularly if trenching is required.

Tubing and casing pressures as well as heater-treater temperatures, gas flare temperatures, tank levels, flows, well shut-in, RTUs and other oilfield measurements and controls can be seamlessly integrated into a single system using the SignalFire Telemetry equipment.

For more rugged outdoor environments, data transmission of tubing and casing pressures can be executed with either a SignalFire Sentinel Intrinsically Safe Wireless Node that creates a wireless link between the sensor and Gateway where data is available via a Modbus RTU or TCP interface.  A Hazardous Location Multi Input Module can also power and accept inputs from multiple sensors for transmission to the Gateway.

Both the SignalFire Sentinel and the Hazardous Location Multi Input Module are rated for Class 1 Division 1 operation. Intrinsically Safe Battery Packs can be changed in the classified zone without a work ticket. SignalFire’s Sentinel Solar System also carries a Class 1 Division 1 rating and is used for applications that have power requirements not well served by primary batteries.
