Singapore based yard Sembcorp Marine has awarded Semco Maritime a contract to deliver firefighting systems for the production platforms at the new Maersk Oil operated Culzean field in the UK sector of the North Sea. Production from the natural gas field is expected to commence in 2019.

The Culzean complex is comprised of a central processing platform, a wellhead platform, a living quarters platform and two connecting bridges.

The contract involves engineering design, procurement, construction and commissioning of a number of firefighting skids with multiple pressure control deluge valves, foam tanks and turbine proportioners.

The project team comprises staff from Norway, Denmark, Australia and Singapore, who will be working closely together throughout the project execution stage. All skids will be manufactured locally in Singapore.

The order is one of Semco Maritime’s largest ever within firefighting systems, a business area in which the Danish headquartered engineering company has gained an increasing foothold with the Asian yards and North Sea end customers during the past few years.

According to head of Semco Maritime Products & Technology Division, Senior Vice President Henrik Lunde, the order was secured not least as a result of Semco Maritime’s presence in the North Sea Region and Singapore as well as the company’s ability to deliver high quality firefighting solution at competitive prices.
