Romania, China to Start Building 600 MW Power Plant
A new coal-fired power plant built by Romanian state-owned power holding Oltenia in partnership with a Chinese firm is expected to cost 847.6 million euros ($956.43 million) and be connected to the national grid in 2019, the government said on Wednesday.
China's Huadian Engineering Co won the tender to partner Oltenia in building the 600 megawatt plant in 2012m but works have been delayed.
The new lignite-fired plant would be the first major investment in power production the Romanian government has made since its second nuclear reactor went on stream in 2007.
