Polarcus Scores Broadband 3D Project in South America

Posted by December 16, 2015

Polarcus Limited has received a Memorandum of Understanding from an undisclosed client for a 3D marine seismic project in South America utilizing Polarcus' RightBAND technique for broadband data acquisition, the company announced.

The project will commence in the first quarter of 2016 and will run for approximately four months.

According to Polarcus, the RightBAND technique optimizes the imaging of target geologic horizons by tuning the seismic source and receivers to the appropriate frequency band, utilizing a source to streamer depth relationship that best avoids ghost notch coincidence and delivers an optimized de-ghosted broadband volume. For each survey the towing configuration is designed to enhance the expected bandwidth at the targets and to maximize signalto-noise at the receiver ghost notch frequencies in preparation for pre-stack de-ghosting.
