Poland Discussing Coal Mining Consolidation
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Friday the government is discussing consolidating the country's coal mining sector.
"There has emerged a very interesting proposal of consolidation, which assumes that more entities form such a group, which could be more competitive than Kompania Weglowa on its own," Tusk said.
Kompania Weglowa, a state-owned company, is Poland's largest coal miner. Hit by falling coal prices, it is struggling to return to profit.
