Poland's gas monopoly PGNiG said on Wednesday its natural gas sales likely amounted to 4.9 billion cubic metres in the first quarter of 2014, down from 5.6 billion a year earlier.

PGNiG also said its gas output probably reached 1.2 billion cubic meters in the first three months of this year, unchanged from a year ago.

At the same time, crude oil ouput was at 322,000 metric tons, up from 229,000 in the first quarter of 2013.

The company said in the statement these were its preliminary estimates and that final figures would be released on May 9.
