Pertamina, Indonesia's gasoil producer, is seeking 1.2 million barrels in January.
Multiple trade sources confirmed on Friday that Indonesian state-owned oil company Pertamina wants to purchase around 1.2 millions barrels of 2,500ppm gasoil in order to be delivered within the next few days.
They said that the company was looking for one 500,000 barrel cargo, two 200,000 barrel cargoes, and one 300,000. The tender will close on January 6, adding that all offers must be valid until Jan. 8.
The cargoes will be delivered to Tuban and Tanjung Uban, and Pulau Laut mainly between January 14 and 28.
In a separate tender, which closes this Friday, the refiner also wants to buy around 500,000 barrels (or equivalent) of jet fuel for delivery in January.
One of the sources stated that this is on top of the jet fuel purchased for delivery between January and March at a premium of $1-1.50 per barrel over Singapore prices.
Pertamina’s trading arm didn’t immediately respond to a comment request.
A second source suggested that the surge in purchasing activity could be due to a planned refinery maintenance soon at one of Pertamina’s sites.
The refinery unit of the company did not respond immediately to a question. (Reporting and editing by Varun H K; Additional reporting by Bernadette Cristina; Reporting by Trixie YAP)
