Lamprell Energy Ltd., based in the United Arab Emirates, is a provider of fabrication, engineering and contracting services to the offshore and onshore oil and gas industries. Lamprell recently ordered four foldable knuckle boom cranes to be mounted on two jack-up rigs of Le Tourneau Super 116 design, which are currently under construction for their final customer.

The four PK 65002 MD (max. lifting moment of 60.2 mt), with a maximum outreach of 13.8 m and corresponding SWL of 3.2 t in winch mode will be mounted on the cantilever of the rigs to support the daily drilling operations. Hazardous area requirements are fulfilled as well as all other relevant certification demands.

Minimum space for crane available, maximum performance required
Due to a lack of space on the rig, the cranes need to work flexibly and efficiently even in environments with very limited space. Alongside their proven performance and quality, the Palfinger Marine  foldable knuckle boom cranes were chosen because of their compact design and the complete package solution including power pack. Two cranes will be delivered in autumn 2015, and two cranes at the beginning of 2016.
