Norway Oil Wage Talks Postponed after Helicopter Casualty

Posted by May 2, 2016

Wage talks between Norwegian oil workers and employers, which were due to start on Monday, have been postponed after a fatal helicopter crash in the North Sea on Friday, the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association said in a statement.

"The accident at Turoey claimed 13 lives, and several of the member companies in the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association were affected," it added.

There were no survivors.

The 11 passengers and two crew on the flight from Gullfaks B oil platform operated by Norway's Statoil (STO), were all Norwegian except for one British and one Italian national, according to the Rescue Coordination Centre for Southern Norway.

A new date for the talks will be announced later this week, the association said.
