Norway Expects Record Arctic Drilling in 2017

Posted by April 25, 2017

Norway expects 15 exploration wells to be drilled in the Barents Sea this year, two more than in the record year 2014, the head of the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate said on Tuesday.

Of these, Norway's Statoil (STO) is planning to drill five or six wells, including one in the formerly disputed border area with Russia, where the probability of making a discovery was the greatest, Bente Nyland added.
