Neste Shuts Porvoo Diesel Production Line

May 12, 2014

Finnish oil refiner Neste Oil (NTOIF) has shut diesel production line 4 at its Porvoo refinery because of an unexpected mechanical failure, dealing a blow to second-quarter results in its oil products business, it said on Monday.

The work is expected to last around five weeks, the firm said in a statement.

Refinery manager Kari Kolsi said the stoppage would somewhat reduce the plant's diesel and gasoline production, although it could instead put out products such as heavy fuel oil and bitumen.

The Porvoo refinery has the capacity to produce around 120,000 barrels per day of middle distillates, including diesel, jet fuel, and heating oil, according to data from IIR Energy.

Despite the second-quarter hit, the firm said its full-year comparable operating profit guidance remained unchanged at 450 million euros ($619 million), plus or minus 10 percent.
